The initiative, which was made possible in part by support from the Auto Alliance, includes new multimedia public service advertising, an interactive website, school curriculum, print public service poster contest and materials to help surgeons talk to their patients about distracted driving.

An interactive survey co-sponsored by the AAOS found that none of the 1,500 drivers surveyed reported their own driving as unsafe, and 83 percent claim to drive safely. However, they believe that only 10 percent of other drivers drive safely.
