AAOS Names Dr. Frederick Azar Second Vice President

Frederick M. Azar, MD, chief of staff at Campbell Clinic in Memphis, was recently elected the second vice president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, according to an AAOS news release.

He is also a professor and director of the sports medicine fellowship program at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic department of orthopedic surgery. For nearly 20 years, Dr. Azar has volunteered with the Academy and was a member of the inaugural AAOS Leadership Fellows Program in 2003.

Dr. Azar is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and a team physician for the Memphis Grizzlies. He earned his medical degree at Tulane University in New Orleans and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic. His additional training includes a sports medicine fellowship in Birmingham, Ala.
