AAOS Joins U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative to Tackle Cost of Musculoskeletal Care

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is now collaborating with the U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative to address a variety of issues, including the increasing cost of healthcare, changing patient demographics and the cost-effectiveness of musculoskeletal care, according to a report from AAOS Now.

The cost for musculoskeletal care in the United States is approaching $1 trillion per year  and will likely increase in the coming years, according to the report. USBJI will begin the task of defining and measuring the value of musculoskeletal care during its Washington, D.C. summit, which included a variety of stakeholders.

The authors of a recently developed AAOS white paper Social and Economic Value of Orthopaedic Surgery will present at the summit.
