AAOS Hosts Washington DC Advocacy Event

In September, the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ office of government relations hosted a reception for Congressional members, staff and other healthcare stakeholders to strengthen their relationship and discuss issues such as the Medicare sustainable growth rate, budget sequester and the role of orthopedic surgeons in healthcare reform, according to an AAOS Now report.

Twenty members of Congress attended the event, which included more than 80 people. According to the report, “the success of the event confirms that AAOS OGR has established itself as a valuable resource to policy leaders in Washington, D.C.”

The organization plans to host similar events in the future.
