The symposium is meant to foster a better connection between providers and policy makers to promote educated decisions regarding orthopedic healthcare. AAOS will join the Orthopaedic Research Society and other stakeholders to increase awareness of the value of CER and encourage the development of superior protocol, according to AAOS President Daniel J. Berry, MD.
AAOS believes that CER has the potential to develop high-quality objective information to improve patient education, shared decision-making and clinical effectiveness of physicians and other healthcare providers’ treatment recommendations. Symposium sponsors included the National Institute of Health, National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Skin Diseases, Biomet, DePuy and Zimmer.
