AAOS: Congressmen Interested in Access to America’s Orthopaedic Services Act

Approximately 400 orthopedic surgeons visited legislators on Capitol Hill in April to discuss issues with members of Congress, according to an AAOS Now report.

Members of Congress expressed interest in the Access to America’s Orthopaedic Services Act, which seeks to improve research, diagnosis and treatment for musculoskeletal diseases. The act will be reintroduced later this year.

Additional topics discussed included the repeal of the Independent Payment Advisory Board, in-office ancillary services, meaningful medical liability reform and the growing number of patients with musculoskeletal diseases in the country.
