7 Statistics on Gastroenterologist Compensation and Satisfaction From Medscape

Medscape has published the “Medscape Physician Compensation Report: 2012 Results.” The report included data gathered in February from more than 24,000 physicians in the United States across 25 specialties. Of these respondents, 2 percent were in gastroenterology.

Here are seven statistics about gastroenterologist compensation and satisfaction from the report:

  1. Compensation in 2011 was $303,000.
  2. Income increased 1 percent since 2010.
  3. 14 percent of gastroenterologists consider themselves “rich.”
  4. 53 percent said they were satisfied overall.
  5. 51 percent said they felt fairly compensated.
  6. 58 percent said they would choose medicine again as a career.
  7. 51 percent said they would choose gastroenterology as their specialty again.
