5 trends in physician preference implants for orthopedic surgery

A new report from iData Research examines physician implant preferences.

The report, titled “Global Orthopedic Physician Preference Survey 2015” is available for purchase and includes responses from orthopedic surgeons across 60 countries in private practice, hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.

1. DePuy Synthes was one of the preferred companies for knee repair surgeries in more than one-third of the responses.

 

2. The other often-mentioned companies in the survey include:

• Smith & Nephew
• Stryker
• Zimmer

 

3. The factor that most often causes surgeons to switch products is a new product demonstrating better clinical efficacy in comparison to their current product.

 

4. All regions and clinical settings overwhelmingly supported clinical evidence as a key factor for switching products.

 

5. DePuy Synthes was the most highly preferred supplier of knee products globally.
