For the study, researchers conducted an online survey of 375 physicians, dentists and other healthcare providers or administrators. Data collection occurred during November 2012.
Healthcare providers are using smartphones for the following five uses, according to the survey:
Business productivity (email, scheduling, etc.) — 63 percent
Medical or healthcare related apps — 57 percent
Communicating with patients — 36 percent
Mobile access to EHR/EMR — 28 percent
Medical accessories — 11 percent
