For the study, certified athletic trainers from across the state were asked to complete a survey. Key findings from those results include the following:
• Knee injuries topped the list, accounting for more than 35 percent of all reported injuries. The most common knee injury (21.77 percent) was patellar tendinitis. Shoulder conditions, including overuse syndrome and shoulder dislocation, accounted for 17.47 percent of all reported injuries.
• Back pain accounted for 16.17 percent of all injuries.
• Wrist sprains and fractures accounted for 15.85 percent of all reported sports injuries.
• Concussions accounted for 14.82 percent of total injuries reported.
