More than half of orthopedic surgeons, 61 percent, do not feel fairly compensated, according to Medscape’s Orthopedist Compensation Report: 2013. Here are three statistics on how orthopedic surgeons view their career choice.

If given a second chance to make career decisions:

•    56 percent of orthopedic surgeons would choose the same specialty
•    37 percent would choose a career in medicine
•    21 percent would choose the same practice setting
