4. HIM professionals in New England (N.H., Vt., Mass., Conn., Maine, R.I.) earned more than their colleagues in other regions, with an average salary of $53,300.
5. HIM professionals in the Heartland (S.D., N.D., Neb., Mo., Iowa, Minn., Kan.) earned the least, with an average salary of $41,200.
6. HIM professionals who have completed a traditional education program earned more on average ($50,700) than professionals with online training ($43,400).
7. HIM professionals working in hospitals earned more on average ($51,000) than those working in physicians’ offices ($49,100).
8. Male HIM professionals earned more on average ($58,400) than their female counterparts ($47,200).
9. Most HIM professionals (55 percent) were paid an hourly wage; 32 percent of HIM professionals are paid an annual salary.
10. HIM professionals with bachelor’s degrees made greater than $11,000 more on average ($56,500) annually than professionals with associate’s degrees ($44,800).
