University of California San Francisco Surgical Innovations partnered with PrinterPrezz in an initiative to bring innovative medical devices to the forefront faster.

PrinterPrezz fuses metal 3D printing, nanotechnologies and surgical experience to develop medical devices while UCSFSI is an incubator-accelerator for medtech innovators at the University.

Three things to know:

1. The partnership established a co-located center at PrinterPrezz, offering engineering and manufacturing access as well as an open ecosystem of technology that encourages the commercialization of new ideas quicker.

2. UCSF clinicians, engineers, trainees and administrative staff will pool their knowledge and experience regarding clinical needs and product performance information.

3. The partners will use the platform to protect UCSF IP, accelerate current projects and develop new IP.

"We established our co-location center as a foundation for hospital partners to incubate and accelerate ideas from sketches to commercialization quickly. Our joint IP agreement provides our partner hospitals an essential environment to develop their ideas safely," said Shri Shetty, CEO of PrinterPrezz.
