Alphatec launches new titanium interbody implant for spine – 3 insights

Surface Technology

Alphatec commercially launched its IdentiTi-PC Porous Titanium Interbody Implant System for transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion procedures.

Three insights:

1. This is the third of six IdentiTi implant systems Alphatec is planning to commercially launch this year.

2. IdentiTi implants are designed using a subtractive method which generates a proprietary porosity to designed improve imaging characteristics.

3. The implants take advantage of bone's attraction to titanium and are crafted to provide the biological, biochemical and imaging characteristics that surgeons seek in a fusion system.

"The IdentiTi-PC proprietary pore structure is similar to that of cancellous bone. The porosity creates a roughness that improves initial stability through surface adhesion and facilitates bone apposition," said Geoffrey Cronen, MD, of Florida Medical Clinic Orthopaedic Surgery.
