SI-Bone jumps into 3D-printing with new partnership: 3 things to know

SI-Bone signed an agreement with PrinterPrezz to develop and build services for potential future 3D-printed implants.

 

Three things to know:

1. SI-Bone pioneered the minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion implant, iFuse Implant System. Under the agreement, PrinterPrezz will work with the company to develop additional 3D-printed solutions.

"Our surgeons are asking for more metal 3D-printed medical solutions to help their patients and we continue to push forward our R&D to deliver solutions for those who can benefit from surgical treatment of SI disorders," said SI-Bone Chief Technology Officer Scott Yerby.

2. PrinterPrezz has a location in the Bay Area, near SI-Bone's Fremont, Calif.-based headquarters, so the companies can work closely together and drive fast turnarounds. "This allows us to test prototypes more quickly and iterate using 3D-printed models in pursuit of better patient outcomes," said Mr. Yerby.

3. PrinterPrezz will leverage its team of clinicians and engineers as well as 3D printers, manipulation software and scanners to help bring the partnership's devices to the market quickly.

"We're working closely with SI-Bone to accelerate groundbreaking development of high-performance devices to meet the demands of this large and underserved market," said PrinterPrezz CEO Shri Shetty.
