Additive Orthopaedics gets FDA clearance for 3D printed plates: 3 things to know

Surface Technology

Additive Orthopaedics received FDA 510(k) clearance for its patient-specific 3D-printed Locking Lattice Plates.

Three things to know:

1. The Locking Lattice Plates are designed for alignment, stabilization and fusion of fractures in the foot and ankle.

2. Additive Orthopaedics is a manufacturer of 3D-printed foot and ankle devices for orthopedic surgery.

3. "There will always be a need for traditional off-the-shelf orthopedic devices, but in cases of implant revisions, limb salvage and trauma, using printing to manufacture a patient-specific device can potentially lead to a better outcome," said Greg Kowalczyk, president of Additive Orthopaedics.
