Valley Bone & Joint Specialists uses minimally invasive technology for total joint replacements: 4 details

Surface Technology

Gilbert, Ariz.-based Valley Bone & Joint Specialists implemented technology designed for minimally invasive surgeries, ABC15 reports.

Here are four things to know:

1. Valley Bone & Joint orthopedic surgeon Salvatore LaCognata, DO, helped design DJO Surgical's Empower 3D knee implant, which he uses for knee replacements.

2. Designed to provide anterior-posterior knee stability, the implant recreates the motion patterns of the natural knee with a full range of motion from early to deep flexion.

3. Dr. LaCognata said Empower 3D builds more stability into the knee joint and that patients tell him their knees feel stronger and have no joint pain.

4. The clinic also utilizes computer navigation, which is designed to provide precise alignment of implants during total joint replacement surgeries.
