Tyber Medical promotes, adds executives: 4 insights

Tyber Medical promoted Gary Thomas to COO and added Wesley Johnson as executive vice president of product development.

Here are four things to know:

1. Tyber Medical is a manufacturer of spine and orthopedic devices with bioengineered surfaces.

2. Mr. Thomas joined Tyber Medical in 2017 as the executive vice president of operations. Prior to joining Tyber Medical, he served as the vice president of operations at the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, an orthobiologics company.

3. Mr. Johnson has extensive experience in the joint reconstruction, spine, trauma and biologics industries. Prior to joining Tyber Medical, he served as vice president of research and development at Medacta in Chicago.

4. Tyber Medical distributes products via private labeling and released 14 spine and 25 extremity/trauma systems since it was founded in 2012. The company's technology uses TyPEEK osteoconductive coatings and BioTy, an antimicrobial nanotextured surface modification.
