Surgeons reported using 4Web Medical's Truss Implant Technology in more than 30,000 procedures.
Here are five things to know.
1. 4Web launched Truss Implant Technology in November 2012. The 3-D printed implant technology company now offers implants for spine, foot and ankle and patient-specific orthopedic surgeries.
2. 4Web received the first FDA approval for a 3-D printed spine implant in 2012.
3. The truss technology provides a hierarchical surface roughness from the macro- to nanoscale, which is designed to stimulate an osteogenic response while the design's open architecture broadens the fusion column by up to 75 percent. The truss design is also intended to provide controlled load distribution, maximizing resistance to subsidence.
4. According to 4Web President and CEO Jessee Hunt, over 650 surgeons have used the Truss Implant Technology in the past five years.
5. 4Web will expand its Posterior Spine Truss System to include additional sizes and lordotic angles in May, according to Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Jim Bruty.
