Akbar Nawab, MD, successfully completed the first U.S. surgery with Medacta's MectaScrew PEEK Interference Screw in September.
Three things to know:
1. The MectaScrew PEEK received FDA clearance in June and is part of the Medacta Single Bundle ACL set.
2. The device is intended for knee arthroscopy and indicated for reconstructive treatment of ruptured anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments for hamstring and bone-tendon-bone repairs.
3. The MectaScrew PEEK features a blunt thread to protect the graft from laceration and sharp threads at the driver tip that increases in width to facilitate insertion.
