Innovasis launched the TxHA transforaminal interbody fusion device.
Here are four things to know:
1. The device contains PEEK Optima hydroxyapatite enhanced polymer. The osteoconductive hydroxyapatite is fully integrated into the polymer and exposed on all of the implant's surfaces.
2. Board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon William Lavelle, MD, performed the first case using the TxHA device at Upstate Orthopaedics in Syracuse, N.Y.
3. The implant is intended to facilitate lumbar spine fusion and is placed through a transforaminal approach.
4. The TxHA implant also features a tapered leading edge to ease insertion, a convex profile to match anatomy, tantalum markers for improved visualization and pyramidal teeth for migration resistance.
