The Pittsburgh Pirates named a new director of orthopedics from within, TribLive reported Jan. 25.
Darren Frank, MD, who was an assistant team physician for 10 years, will be director of orthopedics. He has been an associate director of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network's sports medicine division since 2012.
Two other appointments were named to the Pirates' medical team. Todd Franco, DO, was named director of physiatry, and Ravi Ved, DO, was named director of internal medicine.
These changes come as team physician Edward Snell, MD, steps down to become Allegheny Health Network's sports performance medical director.
