Dr. Martin O'Malley performs ankle surgery on NBA player Joe Harris

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Foot and ankle surgeon Martin O'Malley, MD, of New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery, performed an arthroscopic procedure on Joe Harris of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets, according to a Nov. 29 Nets Daily report.

Dr. O'Malley, a Nets team physician, operated on Mr. Harris' left ankle to remove a loose bone particle stemming from a Nov. 14 injury Mr. Harris suffered in a match against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"There's a little bone particle in there," Nets head coach Steve Nash said, according to the report. "Just the uncertainty of it, just better to take it out. We thought that it would potentially sort itself out because it's been there, but it's not [sorting itself out]. Hopefully that's the end of it.”

Mr. Harris is expected to miss between four and six weeks.
