Dr. K.J. Kenneth-Nwosa named head team physician for Texas university's athletics program

Sports medicine physician K.J. Kenneth-Nwosa, MD, has been named head team physician for University of Texas at San Antonio Athletics and assistant professor in the orthopedics department at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

In his new role, Dr. Kenneth-Nwosa will oversee sports medicine physicians, physician assistants, athletic trainers, and physical and occupational therapists. He will also coordinate care with orthopedic surgeons and other specialists.

He will help support UT Health San Antonio's sports medicine program, which will provide student-athletes with sports medicine, orthopedics, imaging, physical therapy and other specialty services for preventive care as well as the treatment of a full range of sports-related injuries. 

UT Health San Antonio, with more than 800 physicians across over 100 specialties, became the official healthcare partner for UTSA Athletics in April.

Dr. Kenneth-Nwosa will begin his new roles on Aug. 1.
