James Andrews, MD, performed Tommy John surgery on Philadelphia Phillies reliever Seranthony Dominguez July 31, The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Three things to know:
1. Mr. Dominguez had the procedure to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
2. The surgery is likely to keep him sidelined until the end of next summer.
3. Dr. Andrews founded Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Clinic in Birmingham, Ala., where he practiced until he opened Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla., in 2007.
