Dr. Martin O'Malley performs surgery on Kevin Durant's ruptured Achilles

Martin O'Malley, MD, performed surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles on the Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant after he sustained the injury in game five of the NBA Finals, according to a statement posted on the Golden State Warriors' Twitter feed.

After the game in Toronto, Canada, Mr. Durant flew to New York where he had an MRI and surgery was performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Dr. O'Malley is an associate attending orthopedic surgeon at HSS where he has been part of the medical staff since 1993.

He is team physician for the Brooklyn Nets and USA Basketball, as well as the foot and ankle consultant for the New York Giants and New York City Ballet.

Dr. O'Malley earned his medical degree at Case Western University School of Medicine in Cleveland. He completed his residency at Tufts University Affiliated Hospitals in Boston and a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at HSS.
