Willis-Knighton Sports Medicine in Shreveport, La., provided 970 free physical screenings for high school athletes in preparation for the 2019-20 school year, reports the Bossier Press-Tribune.

Three insights:

1. It is the eleventh successive year that WKSM has offered this service to schools in the community that do not have sports medicine providers.

2. Exams were conducted by physicians from WK Health System and Louisiana State University Health Shreveport, as well as physical therapists and athletic trainers.

3. Athletes were screened for general medical and orthopedic health concerns and were either cleared for play or referred for follow-ups if any issues were found.
