Written by Angie Stewart | April 22, 2019 | Print | EmailNew York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery expanded its partnership with the New York Mets.
Three insights:
1. The Mets selected HSS as the new presenting partner of the Mets Academy. The Mets Academy is a training facility in the Dominican Republic with three baseball fields, a clubhouse, batting cages and pitching mounds.
2. HSS will provide preventive, educational, performance and consulting services at the Mets Academy to benefit the club's Latin American prospects.
3. HSS will also host educational workshops, community events and charitable events at the facility.
"We have been providing day-to-day coverage for the Mets for more than 25 years, as well as assisting in the decision-making for each player's course of care throughout the seasons, and now look forward to enabling baseball prospects in this region to maintain long and healthy careers," said David W. Altchek, MD, a sports medicine surgeon at HSS and medical director of the Mets.
