Gwinnett Medical Center honors Dr. John Bergfeld with Pioneer of Sports Medicine award

Gwinnett Medical Center's Sports Medicine Program named John Bergfeld the 2019 Pioneer of Sports Medicine.

The key details to know:

1. Dr. Bergfeld is the operating room director and senior surgeon in the Cleveland Clinic's department of orthopedic surgery.

2. He was previously elected to the American Orthopedic Society's Hall of Fame.

3. Dr. Bergman served as the team physician for the Cleveland Browns for 28 seasons. He was also the Cleveland Cavaliers' team physician for 23 years.
