James Andrews, MD, performed Tommy John surgery March 18 on Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Dane Dunning’s right elbow, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Three things to know:
1. Mr. Dunning will miss all of the 2019 season and will probably miss the start of the 2020 season.
2. Dr. Andrews is a founding member of the Birmingham, Ala.-based Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. He is also a founding partner and the medical director of the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
3. Dr. Andrews serves as the senior consultant for the Washington Redskins and the orthopedic medical director of the Tampa Bay Rays.
