Joel Boyd, MD, repaired Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu's right knee, the team announced.

 

What you should know:

1. Mr. Koivu tore his torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus Feb. 5. He will miss the rest of the season.

2. Dr. Boyd is an orthopedic surgeon at Bloomington, Minn.-based Tria Orthopaedic Center.

3. He earned his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Temple University. He completed a residency at Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship at London, Ontario-based University of West Ontario.

4. Dr. Boyd is an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons fellow.
