The Green Bay Packers recognized retired orthopedic surgeon Eugene Nordby, MD, 100, on Dec. 30, 2018, during the last game of the team's 100th season, according to Journal Sentinel.
Here are five details:
1. Throughout his 39-year orthopedic surgeon career, Dr. Nordby specialized in fractures, back injuries and early joint replacement surgery.
2. Dr. Nordby served as an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. Army during World War II.
3. After earning his medical degree from UW Health School of Medicine in Madison, Dr. Nordby completed his residency at Madison General Hospital.
4. Dr. Nordby served on the board of Wisconsin Physician Services Insurance for 55 years.
5. During the pre-game ceremony, Dr. Nordby was able to stand on the field and wave to fans while his picture and career highlights were displayed on the jumbotrons.
