Dr. Michelle Carlson performs wrist surgery on Bucks' John Henson: 6 notes

Michelle Carlson, MD, performed surgery on Milwaukee Bucks center John Henson's left wrist Nov. 27, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. Dr. Carlson performed Mr. Henson's surgery at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery under the supervision of Bucks Head Team Physician William Raasch, MD.

2. Mr. Henson initially sustained a torn ligament in his left wrist during the team's Nov. 6 game. He then played four more games before being diagnosed with the injury.

3. The Bucks have not released an official update on when Mr. Henson is expected to return to game play.

4. Dr. Raasch is an orthopedic surgeon at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

5. With expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Raasch's additional specialties include arthroscopic knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and hip surgery as well as cartilage implantation and transplantation.

6. Dr. Carlson is an orthopedic surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Her specialties include sports-related hand injuries and fractures and neurologic injuries in upper extremities.
