Dr. Neal ElAttrache examines Athletics' left-hander Sean Manaea — 6 details

Oakland Athletics pitcher Sean Manaea could be out for the rest of the season due to rotator cuff tendinitis, MLB.com reports. 

Here are six details:

1. Mr. Manaea traveled to the Bay Area Aug. 27 to undergo tests on his injured shoulder.

2. Neal ElAttrache, MD, looked at Mr. Manaea's injury Aug. 28 in Los Angeles.

3. The lefty was diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis in his left shoulder.

4. He is out indefinitely, possibly for the rest of the season. Mr. Manaea was previously the only remaining member of Oakland's starting rotation who avoided injury.

5. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe fellowship.

6. Dr. ElAttrache is the president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, as well as the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and the PGA Tour.
