Mount Sinai to become the official medical provider for US Open: 3 details

New York City-based Mount Sinai will serve as the official medical services provider for the 2018 U.S. Open Tennis Championships, which begins Aug. 27.

Here are three things to know:

1. This is Mount Sinai's sixth consecutive year as the official medical services provider.

2. Alexis Chiang Colvin, MD, will lead care for the athletes as the U.S. Open's CMO. Dr. Colvin is a team physician for the U.S. Fed Cup team and an associate professor of sports medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.

3. This is the first year Mount Sinai's radiology team will have a portable X-ray machine on hand. It will be used at the request of tournament physicians to take X-rays of the chest, pelvis, spine or extremities.
