Here are 33 sports medicine physicians who recently joined new practices or took on new positions in 2018:

Orthopedic surgeon Neal S. ElAttrache, MD, became the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's 47th president July 7.

Philadelphia Eagles head team physician Peter DeLuca, MD, and internist Gary Dorshimer, MD, will not return for the 2018 season. Drs. DeLuca and Dorshimer served the Eagles for nearly 20 years. They will remain team physicians for the Philadelphia Flyers. The Eagles' head athletic trainer, Chris Peduzzi, resigned after the team's Super Bowl win.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham named Irfan M. Asif, MD, family and community medicine department chair. He completed a family medicine residency with a concentration in sports medicine at the Seattle-based University of Washington. He will begin his role Sept. 15.

Will Brabston, MD, Sara Gould, MD, Stephen Gould, MD, Kennieth McCollough Jr., MD, and Amit Momaya, MD, will practice at the new University of Alabama at Birmingham — Highlands Hospital sports medicine clinic.

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente appointed Aaron Rubin, MD, CMO for Special Olympics Southern California. Dr. Rubin is a family and sports medicine physician at Pasadena-based Southern California Permanente Medical Group.

Jeffrey Hayer, MD, joined Valley Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in Greenfield, Mass.

North Adams, Mass.-based Berkshire Health System added James R. Parkinson, MD, to its staff at Berkshire Medical Center in North Adams.

Stuart Anderson, MD, joined Wheeling (W. Va.) Hospital.

Brad Harman, MD, Blaine Farless, MD, and Branden Moore, MD, rebranded Cleburne (Texas) Orthopedics & Sports Medicine as Chisholm Trail Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Nicholas Theodore, MD, is the new chairman of the NFL's head, neck and spine committee.

Mark Ritter, MD, Art Rettig, MD, Kevin Condict, MD, Jonathan Smerek, MD, and Dale Snead, MD, will see patients at the new Methodist Sports Medicine location in Tipton, Ind.

Neil Roth, MD, joined New York City-based EMU Health as the director of orthopedic services.

Emily Sumner, MD, joined Kaiser Permanente’s Waipio (Hawaii) Medical Office. She specializes in family and sports medicine.

John DiFiori, MD, will serve as the chief of New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery's primary care sports medicine service.

Michael Ryan, MD, joined the staff of Birmingham, Ala.-based Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

Steven Kana, MD, joined Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional's Sports Medicine Institute as an orthopedic and sports medicine specialist.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health added Claude Moorman III, MD, to its staff.

Justin Tunis, MD, a primary care sports medicine specialist, and Shazad Shaikh, MD, an orthopedic sports surgeon, relocated their clinical practices from Scranton, Pa.-based Geisinger Community Medical Center to Geisinger Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Scranton.

UC San Diego Health appointed Catherine M. Robertson, MD, its chief of sports medicine.

Nonoperative sports medicine and interventional spine specialist Ian W. Wendel, DO, joined Tri-County Orthopedics in Cedar Knolls, N.J.

Tariq Hendawi, MD, joined Irving, Texas-based Precision Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.

Westfield, Ind.-based Methodist Sports Medicine promoted Mark Ritter, MD, to medical director of Grand Park Events Center, also in Westfield.
