Christopher Ahmad, MD, will repair the torn ulnar collateral ligament of New York Yankees' pitcher Jordan Montgomery June 7, MLB.com reports.

1. Mr. Montgomery had been rehabilitating from a strained flexor muscle in his left elbow since May.
2. He was ramping up baseball activity when his arm felt stiff. The team sent him to New York City for an MRI June 4, unveiling the UCL tear. He'll be out between 12 and 18 months.
3. Dr. Ahmad is the head team physician for the Yankees and for New York City Football Club.
4. He is specializes in anterior cruciate ligament knee injuries, Tommy John surgery and advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques for sports-related injuries.
5. Dr. Ahmad notably has edited two influential orthopedic textbooks: "Minimally Invasive Shoulder and Elbow Surgery" and "Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Injuries."
