Neal ElAttrache, MD, repaired the damaged ulnar collateral ligament of Los Angeles Angels' pitcher Blake Wood.

Here's what you should know:

1. Mr. Wood was rehabilitating from a past elbow injury, when he felt more discomfort in his elbow.

2. He underwent an MRI revealing the damage to his UCL. Dr. ElAttrache performed Tommy John surgery May 31.

3. Dr. ElAttrache is an orthopedic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. He is chairman of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe fellowship.

4. He is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and the PGA Tour.
