Dr. Martin O'Malley operates on Timberwolves' Justin Patton — 3 insights

Martin O'Malley, MD, repaired the left foot of Minnesota Timberwolves rookie center Justin Patton for the second time in nine months, the Minnesota StarTribune reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. Mr. Patton broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot July 2017. The most recent surgery was to "encourage further healing" of the original injury.

2. Dr. O'Malley is an associate attending orthopedic surgeon and fellowship director of the foot and ankle service at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.

3. Dr. O'Malley is considered an expert in total ankle replacement, arthroscopy of the ankle and post-traumatic reconstruction.
