Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital breaks ground on new sports medicine facility — 5 takeaways

Memorial Hermann Katy (Texas) Hospital broke ground on a new sports medicine and human performance facility.

Here are five things to know.

1. Memorial Hermann Sports Park — Katy is a collaboration between Memorial Hermann and Plano, Texas-based Athlete Training and Health.

2. The 50,000-square-foot, $15 million facility is expected to open January 2019.

3. The new facility will feature UT Orthopedic physicians who already serve the Katy community, as well as a Memorial Hermann Medical Group primary care clinic staffed by primary care physicians with sports medicine training.

4. The facility will also host an IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute and ATH training center with adult fitness space, pro-style weight room and an indoor turf field for performance training.

5. The new sports park will also feature an outdoor turf field for several community sports leagues including soccer, football and lacrosse.
