Mercy Regional Medical Center opens sports medicine facility: 5 takeaways

Durango, Colo.-based Mercy Regional Medical Center opened a new facility in Durango dedicated to sports medicine, according to The Durango Herald.

Here are five takeaways:

 

1. Mercy Sports Medicine, which opened a few weeks ago, is a 7,000-square-foot center which includes Mercy Integrated Physical Therapy.

 

2. The center is home to seven treatment rooms, two gyms and various offices. Mercy Regional Medical Center expects 15 employees to staff the sports medicine facility.

 

3. A "hub for sports medicine," the physicians at the center work with athletic trainers, message therapists and other sports medicine specialists.

 

4. Mercy Regional Medical Center purchased an additional $200,000 in equipment to provide patients with comprehensive sports medicine care.

 

5. Mercy Regional Medical Center has two additional physical therapy centers in Durango. The hospital plans to continue maintaining the now three centers separately.
