Don Sheridan, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Scottsdale, Ariz., will perform surgery on San Francisco Giants player Pablo Sandoval for a fractured hamate bone in his right hand, according to a report from San Jose Mercury News.
Mr. Sandoval will undergo the surgery within the next few days. It usually takes three weeks before athletes undergoing surgery for hamate fractures are able to begin rehabbing the injury, and he could be out of play for six weeks. When he returns to play, he may continue to experience discomfort, according to the report.
