Dr. Neal ElAttrache to operate on shoulder of Dodgers Julio Urias; 12 to 14 months of rehab required

Los Angeles Dodgers Head Team Physician Neal ElAttrache, MD, will operate on the left shoulder of Dodgers' pitching prospect Julio Urias, on June 27, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Here's what you should know:


1. Mr. Urias tore the anterior capsule in his left shoulder.


2. Mr. Urias will require 12 to 14 months of rehabilitation to return to baseball activities. Mr. Urias made his major league debut last year when he was 19 years old.


3. Dr. ElAttrache, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, is the chairman of the board and program director for the Los Angeles-based Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic fellowship.


4. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the Anaheim Ducks, St. Louis Rams, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings and the PGA Tour.
