New NHL team Vegas Golden Knights hired a new director of performance medicine, according to FanRag Sports.

Here are four key notes:

 

1. Jay Mellette will serve as the team's new director of sports performance and head athletic trainer.

 

2. Mr. Mellette previously served as Cirque du Soleil's director of performance medicine.

 

3. He is a United States Air Force veteran.

 

4. The Vegas Golden Knights will begin play in the 2017 to 2018 NHL season, as part of the Western Conference's Pacific Division.
