Dr. Robert Anderson to perform surgery on Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota: 5 key points

Robert Anderson, MD, is scheduled to perform surgery on Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, according to a report published in Oak Ridger.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Mr. Mariota, a rookie quarter back, broke his right fibula in a game on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

 

2. Dr. Anderson, an orthopedic surgeon with OrthoCarolina based in Charlotte, N.C., is scheduled to perform surgery on Mr. Mariota's leg on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

 

3. Mr. Mariota is expected to spend four to five months recovering from the procedure and return to the team for next season, according to the report.

 

4. The team physicians reported Mr. Mariota isn't expected to lose mobility due to the surgery.

 

5. Dr. Anderson has performed surgery on several professional athletes in the past, including Houston Texans' Nick Martin and Cleveland Browns guard Joel Bitonio earlier this year.
