Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush recently announced the hirings of Jeremy Alland, MD, Nicole Boniquit, MD, Kamran Hamid, MD, Gregory Lopez, MD, and Nicholas Ting, MD. Here's what you need to know.
1. Dr. Alland is a sports medicine physician for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Fire Soccer Club and the Windy City Bulls. He graduated from Rush Medical College. While there he was awarded the WIlliam H. Harrison, PhD Award for "selfless leadership, aspiration and collaboration." He completed a residency at St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh. He also completed a residency in sports medicine at Rush.
2. Dr. Boniquit is a sports medicine physician that specializes in non-surgical treatment of acute, overuse and chronic musculoskeletal injuries. She has a special interest in caring for child and adolescent athletes, runners, basketball players and for treating fractures and concussions. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago, completed her residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and had a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
3. Dr. Hamid is a foot and ankle surgeon who has a special interest in ankle replacement surgery, foot deformity correction, sports injuries and trauma of the foot and ankle. He earned his medical degree from Texas A&M and then earned his masters of public health in quantitative methods at Harvard. He had a residency at Wake Forest University and a fellowship at Duke University.
4. Dr. Lopez is a spine, back and neck surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive treatment of complex degenerative disorders of the spine and pediatric and adult deformities. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas and completed his residency at the University of California Irvine. While there, he created low cost surgical simulators for orthopedic surgery training. He then had a spine surgery fellowship at Rush.
5. Dr. Ting is a hip and knee reconstruction and replacement surgeon. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University. While in school, he devoted a year to clinical research in adult reconstruction at Rush. He then completed a residency at the Cleveland Clinic and an adult reconstruction fellowship at the OrthoCarolina Hip and Knee Center.
