15 sports medicine physicians on the move

Here are 15 sports medicine physicians who recently joined new practices, were promoted or are retiring in the near future.

Gary S. Shapiro, MD, established Shapiro Sports Medicine at Kennedy-White Orthopaedic Center in Sarasota, Fla.

 

Pediatric and sports medicine specialist Jennifer Tareco, MD, joined Somerset, N.J.-based Robert Wood Johnson Physician Enterprise.

 

Board-certified orthopedic sports medicine physician Christopher M. Johnson, MD, joined The Pinehurst (N.C.) Clinic.

 

Sergio Martinez, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in sports injury treatment, joined Lake Wales (Fla.) Medical Center.

 

Albany, N.Y.-based OrthoNY welcomed Thomas Varney, MD, to its Glens Falls office.

 

Andrew Abramowitz, MD, who has a special interest in sports injury treatment, joined MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore.

 

Third generation orthopedic surgeon Nathan A. Jové, MD, joined DeKalb (Ill.) Medical Center after completing a residency in Detroit where he took care of professional athletes from the Detroit Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings.

 

New Lenox, Ill.-based Silver Cross Hospital welcomed sports medicine physicians James Leonard, MD, and Luis J. Redondo, MD.

 

Noted sports medicine physician Michael Schutte, MD, who practiced at Rockies Orthopedics in Missoula, Mont., and worked with professional and Olympic athletes, announced his retirement.

 

MedStar Orthopaedics welcomed several physicians earlier this year, including sports medicine specialists Steven Kulik, MD, and Steve Peterson, MD.

 

Kevin Hilton, MD, joined Lodi (Calif.) Health.

 

Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center welcomed Prerana Patel, MD, who has a special interest in pediatric sports medicine and trauma care.

 

Somers Point, N.J.-based Shore Orthopaedic University Associates added Frederick G. Dalzell, MD, who focuses on sports injury repair.
