AOSSM Names Georgia's Dr. Champ Baker 'Mr. Sports Medicine'

Champ Baker, MD, a physician at Columbus, Ga.'s The Hughston Clinic, was presented with the 37th annual 2010 Robert E. Lech Mr. Sports Medicine Award at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's annual meeting in Providence, R.I., according to an AOSSM news release.

In addition to practicing at The Hughston Clinic, Dr. Baker serves as chair of the board of directors of The Hughston Foundation as well as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthoaedic Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia and teacher at Tulane University of Medicine.

In 2006, Dr. Baker served as AOSSM president and has served on the AOSSM Board of Directors as well as several other committees. His specialties include sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery.

The Mr. Sports award includes a $5,000 donation to a charity of Dr. Baker's choice.
