Eagles name head team physician, spine consultant & 5 more team physicians

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

After shuffling around its medical staff after the 2017-18 season, the Philadelphia Eagles named its head team physician, head orthopedic physician, spine consultant and four other orthopedic physicians.

Here's what you need to know:

1. Stephen Stache, MD, will serve as head team physician and head internist. Dr. Stache is a nonoperative sports medicine physician at Philadelphia-based Rothman Institute. He serves on the medical staff for the Philadelphia Phillies and as a consultant for the Philadelphia 76ers.

2. Christopher Dodson, MD, is the new head orthopedic physician. This will be Dr. Dodson's sixth season with the Eagles and first as head orthopedic physician. He is a professor at Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University and a sports medicine surgeon at Rothman Institute.

3. Paul Marchetto, MD, and John Salvo, MD, are the new orthopedic physicians for the Eagles. Dr. Marchetto is rejoining the medical staff after working as the former assistant team physician. Dr. Salvo is going into his second year with the team.

4. Matthew Pepe, MD, is the new associate head orthopedic physician, and Jeremy Close, MD, is the new assistant team physician. Dr. Pepe is entering his ninth season with the team while Dr. Close is coming in as a new team member.

5. Alexander Vaccaro, MD, PhD, will remain as team spine consultant for the 15th year. He is the president of Rothman Institute and president-elect of the Cervical Spine Research Society.
