Orthopedic physicians who work in single-specialty group practices earn more that orthopedists in any other work setting, according to the Medscape's 2013 Orthopedist Compensation Report.

The report is based on responses from nearly 22,000 physicians.

 

According to the report, orthopedists who work in the following settings earn:

 

•    Single-specialty group practices — $469,000
•    Healthcare organization — $422,000
•    Multispecialty group practice — $422,000
•    Hospital — $396,000
•    Solo practice — $365,000
•    Other — $320,000
•    Academic — $304,000
•    Outpatient clinic — $200,000
